Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do Gaston Day students wear uniforms?

No, however, the lower school does have a “modified uniform” in which students wear khaki or navy bottoms and a solid colored golf shirt. The middle and upper school students abide by a dress code, established by Student Government. The entire Gaston Day community does, however, participate in “high dress” for significant school events throughout the academic year.

  • Do you have a strong sports program?

Yes. We compete in twelve different sports, some of which have won state championships. In fact, 70% of middle and upper school students participate in one or more sports. Whether students work out in our multi-million dollar sports complex or cheer the Spartans to victory at our homecoming game, everyone is a true blue fan.

  • Is financial assistance available?

Yes, we offer financial assistance as well as merit and arts scholarships.

  • What are the deadlines for admission?

We consider applications for admission to Gaston Day on a rolling basis, depending on available space. Although we review applications for admission throughout the year, we recommend that parents submit their student’s application by February 15.

  • What is the college acceptance rate for Gaston Day students?

Each year, 100% of our students are accepted into college and universities across the country. In most cases, students are accepted into their first choice college or university.

  • What is your student/teacher ratio?

We offer small, personal classes to ensure the quality of a Gaston Day education. As such, we have a 10:1 student to teacher ratio, which means the majority of classes contain less than 15 students. Your student will be instructed by highly trained teachers who have, in some cases, received regional, state, and national recognition for excellence.

  • When is the best time to visit Gaston Day School?

While we encourage you to visit the school any time, it is best to schedule an appointment when school is in session. Parents and students get a better feel for the academic atmosphere of our campus while students are actively participating in classes. When visiting, a family is given a tour of the campus as well as an opportunity to observe classes and teachers.

  • Where do I obtain the application forms?

Click HERE to fill out the online inquiry. Upon receiving the inquiry, the Office of Admission will send a packet of information. You can apply on-line  HERE . Once an applicant file is completed, the Admissions Committee will place the file under review and notification of admission will be sent by mail.
